Terms and conditions

These terms apply to all classes, workshops, rehearsals, events and other activities organised by Bloom Belly Dance.

LAST UPDATED: 27 August 2026

1. Bookings and payment

Your booking is confirmed once payment has been received successfully. You are responsible for giving accurate contact details when you book, so that Bloom Belly Dance can reach you about your booking, including any changes to the schedule or cancellations.

Bookings are non-refundable unless the class or activity is cancelled by Bloom Belly Dance. Bookings for classes are for a leisure service provided on a specific date or period of performance (a scheduled class or block of classes at fixed times). Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you do not have a statutory right to cancel this booking once it is made. Bookings cannot be transferred to another person.

For block bookings, refunds cannot be provided for missed classes as part of that block.

2. Age requirement

Classes and workshops organised by Bloom Belly Dance are for participants aged 18 and over.

3. Class level and suitability

You are responsible for making sure that the class or workshop you book suits your level of experience and your physical ability. Where a class is advertised as suitable for beginners or for mixed levels, you should still take part at a level appropriate to your own experience and ability.

The instructor may offer modifications or alternative movements where appropriate, but choosing movements and levels of intensity that are right for you remains your responsibility.

4. Health, safety and participation

Belly dance is a form of physical exercise and, as with any physical activity, taking part carries some risk of injury.

You are responsible for making sure this form of exercise is suitable and safe for you. If you have any concerns about taking part safely, seek advice from your doctor or another appropriate healthcare professional before you attend.

By taking part in a class or workshop, you confirm that:

  • you are physically able to take part in the activities;
  • you have told the instructor, before the class, about any relevant medical conditions, injuries or physical limitations that may affect your participation; and
  • you understand that taking part in physical activity is at your own risk.

The instructor will demonstrate safe alignment and technique and will include a suitable warm-up as part of the class. Even so, you are responsible for listening to your body, and you should not perform any movement that causes pain, discomfort, dizziness or other concerning symptoms. Stop exercising and tell the instructor if you feel unable to continue safely.

Please tell the instructor about any injuries, medical conditions or physical limitations that may affect your ability to take part safely before the class begins.

Bloom Belly Dance will take reasonable care to provide a safe environment and appropriate instruction. However, to the extent permitted by law, Bloom Belly Dance accepts no responsibility for injuries, illness or other medical conditions arising from participation where these result from circumstances outside its reasonable control, or from a participant’s failure to follow safety guidance.

5. Clothing and footwear

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement and is suitable for physical activity.

Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times during classes. Suitable options are:

  • bare feet, where appropriate for the venue and the activity;
  • dance socks; or
  • dance shoes designed for movement-based activities.

Please make sure your clothing and footwear suit the movements being taught and the requirements of the venue.

6. Behaviour and respect

Students are expected to treat the instructor, other students and venue staff with courtesy and respect. Aggressive, disruptive, threatening or violent behaviour will not be tolerated.

Bloom Belly Dance reserves the right to ask a student to leave a class, or to exclude them from a course or from future activities, where their behaviour is considered inappropriate or unsafe. In these circumstances the student’s payment is non-refundable.

7. Personal belongings

You are solely responsible for your personal belongings while attending classes, workshops, rehearsals, events or any other activity organised by Bloom Belly Dance.

Please keep personal items, valuables and electronic devices secure at all times.

Bloom Belly Dance accepts no liability for personal belongings that are lost, stolen, misplaced or damaged at a class or event venue, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Attendance and late arrival

Please arrive at least five minutes before the scheduled start time. This gives you time to prepare, change, complete any check-in, and lets the class begin promptly.

If you expect to be late, please let the instructor know in advance where you can. Students arriving more than ten minutes after the scheduled start time without prior notice may be refused entry, at the instructor’s discretion. This is so that classes can run safely and so that nobody misses the warm-up, which is an important part of preparing the body for physical activity.

Where entry is refused because of late arrival, the class remains non-refundable.

9. Venue rules

Please follow any reasonable rules and requirements of the venue where a class, workshop, rehearsal or event takes place. This includes instructions about access, footwear, use of facilities, health and safety, fire safety and care of the venue. You may be asked to leave the venue if you do not comply with venue rules, or if you behave in a way that creates a safety risk or a disruption.

10. Changes, cancellations and rescheduling

Bloom Belly Dance reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or modify classes, workshops, events, instructors or timetables where this is necessary because of unforeseen circumstances.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  • instructor illness;
  • low attendance or insufficient bookings;
  • venue issues;
  • severe weather;
  • emergencies; or
  • other operational reasons.

If a class is cancelled by Bloom Belly Dance, you will be offered an alternative class wherever possible. Where that is not possible, you may be offered credit against a future class or a refund. Bloom Belly Dance will make reasonable efforts to give advance notice of cancellations or changes wherever possible. You are responsible for checking Bloom Belly Dance’s communication channels for important updates about schedules, cancellations and timetable changes.

11. Photography and filming

You are welcome to photograph and film yourself during classes, and to share that content on your own social media.

If other students or individuals are visible or identifiable in your photographs or videos, it is your responsibility to get their permission before sharing the content publicly. Alternatively, please make sure only you appear in what you share.

Bloom Belly Dance may occasionally take photographs or video during classes for promotional purposes, including use on the Bloom Belly Dance website and social media channels.

If you do not wish to appear, please tell the instructor before or at the time the photographs or videos are being taken. Reasonable efforts will then be made to keep you out of them. If you do not tell the instructor before or at the time, please note that it may not be possible to remove you from content that has since been edited, published or shared. Bloom Belly Dance will make reasonable efforts to deal with requests about published content in line with its Privacy Notice and applicable data protection law.

12. Class combination and choreography videos

At the end of some classes, videos of the combinations or choreography taught in that class may be recorded and shared in the relevant WhatsApp group. These recordings are provided exclusively for students who have signed up to the relevant class block. They are for those students’ personal use. They must not be shared publicly, uploaded to social media, or forwarded to anyone who has not signed up to the relevant course or block.

Please also respect the privacy of other members of the WhatsApp group. Personal information, contact details, photographs, videos and other content relating to other members must not be shared outside the group without their permission.

13. WhatsApp and other communication channels

Where a WhatsApp group or another communication channel is used for a class or course, it is intended for communication between Bloom Belly Dance and the participants in that class or course. Please respect the privacy of other participants. Information obtained through the group must not be used to contact, add or otherwise engage with other participants in an inappropriate or unwanted way.

Please do not share screenshots, messages, personal information or other content from the group outside the group without the relevant person’s permission.

14. Minimum attendance

Bloom Belly Dance reserves the right to cancel a class or course where there are not enough bookings to make it viable to run. Where a class or course is cancelled for this reason, you will be offered an alternative class, credit against a future class, or a refund, as appropriate.

15. Personal data and privacy

Bloom Belly Dance processes personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and applicable UK data protection law. Further information about how personal information is collected, used, stored and protected is set out in the Bloom Belly Dance Privacy Notice.

16. Changes to these terms and conditions

Bloom Belly Dance reserves the right to update these terms and conditions from time to time.

The version in effect at the time of your booking applies to that booking, unless a change is required by law or is necessary to address an important operational or safety matter.

The current version will always be available on the Bloom Belly Dance website.

17. Acceptance of these terms

By booking or taking part in a class, workshop, rehearsal, event or other activity organised by Bloom Belly Dance, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms and conditions.
