ABOUT
Hello, I’m Andreea
A bit about my story and how I teach.

How I started
I walked into my first class over 15 years ago, looking for something new and fun to try – I didn’t expect it to become such a big part of my life.
Since then, I’ve continued to train and develop, taking every opportunity to learn from other teachers and refine my own technique. I’ve been teaching for over 9 years now. I started with Shimmy Society at the University of St Andrews back in 2013, and, after a break during Covid, I started teaching in Dundee, for HERA Dundee. I am now running a weekly class in Edinburgh.
Training
I trained extensively in Egyptian style, through workshops and classes with renowned teachers across the UK, Europe and Egypt – including training trips to Cairo. I invest in ongoing training every year to keep my technique sharp and my teaching current, and I hold a Safe Delivery of Belly Dance Classes qualification (BellyDanceNow, accredited by OneAwards).
How I teach
I am passionate about sharing the joy of belly dance with others and I believe that belly dance can be enjoyed by everyone! I aim to support students on their individual journeys to find their love of movement, feel empowered, connect with their body, and express themselves through dance.
I break down the technique clearly, so that students can understand the basis of the movement. I provide plenty of options, so that everyone can choose what suits their body on the day and dance to the music confidently. Questions are always welcome! And importantly, it’s about having fun as well!
Performance is optional. I share performance opportunities with the class, and some students choose to dance at local haflas or showcases. Many others have come to class for years without performing on stage.
Outside the class
I perform at events around Scotland and beyond, with performances including Cairo, Budapest, Warsaw, Barcelona and others. I was also a finalist in the Belly Dance Now International Competition, performing at the Fantasia Festival Gala in London.
