New to this?

Then you’re in the right place. No experience needed, it’s a ladies-only class, and you won’t be the only new face in the room. Every movement comes with options so you can work at whatever feels right on the night.

Wear something comfortable, bring water, and I’ll take care of the rest.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A real class

Open-level classes suitable for complete beginners and those with experience.

Options for every body

Every movement has alternatives, so you work at whatever your body can do that evening.

No commitment

Come, dance, go home. If you’d like to carry on there’s a block starting, and if not that’s fine.

Good for your body

Belly dance works deep abdominal and pelvic muscles, supporting posture, core strength and mobility.

Andreea

I walked into my first class over 15 years ago, looking for something new and fun. I didn’t expect it to become such a big part of my life! What kept me coming back was how good it felt to move to the music!

I’ve kept training and developing ever since – studying with teachers across the UK, Europe and Cairo – and I’ve been teaching for over 9 years now, most recently building Bloom from the ground up here in Edinburgh.

Questions people ask first

No. The taster is designed for complete beginners, and the regular classes are open level with beginners in every one.

No. Just leggings and a t-shirt. If you have a scarf at home you can tie it round your hips so you can see the movement, but it isn’t required.

Yes, the class is ladies only. Whilst belly dancing is an inclusive form of dance for all genders, this class is a ladies-only space, which many students find helps them feel comfortable trying new movements and connecting with the group.

Belly dance isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every movement has options, and you adapt it to whatever your body can do. Also, belly dance itself can help to become more fit and improve flexibility.

Most people do. You won’t be the only new face!
